What’s New 2018-2019!
Our team has been quite busy over the course of the summer making improvements to our on-mountain infrastructure. The biggest of these projects is phase one of a major snowmaking renovation to double our water capacity. If you’ve visited us this summer, you may have seen construction equipment making progress to install a 600-horsepower pump and nearly two miles of high-pressure ductile iron pipe, which runs from our namesake water source, the Sunday River, to the pump house in Barker Basin. Upon completion of this project, we’ll see a 15% increase in our capacity for making snow, which means we will continue to provide the most dependable snow in New England. Future improvements that follow this upgrade will allow us to double our existing capacity.
You may also see some changes as you ski into the South Ridge Base Area this winter. We’ve re-engineered the area outside of the SnowSports School to enhance our learning terrain, improve skier flow through this area, and implement terrain-based learning elements to help our beginners get off on the right foot.
We’ll also be launching an all new product called the Threedom Pass. Those who purchase this non-transferable pass may ski any three days at Sunday River, and once they’ve used those days, they will receive 40% off lift tickets on Sunday through Thursday, and 20% off lift tickets on Saturdays and holidays.
